Cars are exposed to many different malfunctions, the causes of which and their most important indicators can be identified from many other parts of the car. Among the most prominent of these indicators is the emission of smoke from the car’s exhaust, which indicates many different malfunctions according to the color of the car’s exhaust.
We will discuss together the common colors emanating from car exhaust and the most important causes of this color in the coming lines.
White car exhaust smoke
When you start the car, you may notice white smoke coming from the exhaust of the car, and this may not be an indication of a malfunction in the car engine, especially in the early morning in cold weather, and the white smoke will stop appearing after starting and moving the car.
In the event that the white smoke from the exhaust of the car does not stop after a long period of operation and movement of the car, this may be an indication of the presence of coolant leakage inside the engine combustion chambers, and the main reason for this smoke may be the damage to the separator between the engine head and the main engine block, and this malfunction may lead to a high financial cost, so the car must be serviced as soon as possible to avoid changing the engine of the car.
Blue car exhaust smoke
The smoke emanating from the exhaust of the car in a light blue color is accompanied by an unpleasant burning smell. The main reason for this malfunction is the combustion of oil inside the engine. This problem may be similar to the previous problem, where the car engine starts mixing oil inside the combustion chambers due to the separator between the engine cover and the main engine block, or from the valves.
The reason may also be the increase in oil inside the car’s engine, which may cause this smoke to be emitted, and some car experts indicate that the problem may be due to damage to the turbocharger in cars equipped with a turbo engine, and these malfunctions must be repaired as soon as possible to avoid losing the car’s engine.
Gray car exhaust smoke
The gray color also indicates the combustion of oil inside the car’s engine, for the same previous reasons. The problem may also be from the turbocharger, but in this case the problem may still be in its infancy.
Black car exhaust smoke
Black exhaust smoke indicates excessive combustion of fuel inside the car’s engine, and the problem may initially lie in damage to the fuel injectors inside the engine, or the problem may be due to a damaged air filter, so the fuel injection system inside the engine and the engine air filter must be checked, in addition to the engine’s electronic control unit, which may cause wrong mixing of fuel and air inside the engine due to damage to one of the sensors.
