The problem of high temperature of the car engine is one of the most common problems in the summer and in hot weather, which severely affects the engine of a car and causes very costly damages if the car continues to drive after the temperature rises above its normal limit.
The natural temperature of car engines varies from one model to another, but there is a maximum temperature limit that the indicator should never approach to maintain the safety of the car engine and many expensive parts, so we will discuss together the most important steps that you must take after the engine temperature rises.
What do you do after the car engine overheats?
First, turn off the air conditioner, slow the car to a safe stop on the side of the road, and turn on the warning lights.
Turn off the car engine, open the hood, and leave the car for 20 to 30 minutes until it cools completely.
After making sure that the engine temperature is low, slowly open the radiator cap using a piece of cloth to avoid the coolant rushing due to the extreme pressure generated by the high temperature.
Make sure that the coolant is in the radiator and in the water bottle, in addition to checking the engine oil level, as this may be the cause of the engine’s high temperature.
If there is a decrease in the level of engine oil, you should put the missing amount of oil and then go to one of the centers specialized in maintaining your car slowly so that the engine temperature does not rise again.
If the decrease is in the coolant, start the car engine before supplying the radiator with the coolant, then also put the liquid in the water bladder as well.
What do you do if the engine temperature rises again?
When the engine temperature rises again after supplying the coolant, the reason may be that the cooling fan has stopped working. In this case, you must drive for short distances and then stop until the engine cools down and you check the level of the coolant again, until you reach a maintenance center to address the problem.
What are the main causes of engine overheating?
A leak in the radiator connections
Malfunction of the cooling water pump
Accumulation of impurities and blockage of radiators
Cooling fan malfunction
Thermostat malfunction
Low coolant or engine oil level
